Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed human resources in all ministries and departments.  He also directed the government to work on it in mission mode for the next one and a half years.

According to the information provided by the PMO, only 1.5 lakh posts could be filled in all the departments of the central government in the next one and a half years.

According to the information provided by the PMO, only 1.5 lakh posts could be filled in all the departments of the central government in the next one and a half years.  Giving information in this regard from PMO India account, it has been tweeted that, “PM Narendra Modi has reviewed the human resources in all the ministries and departments.  He also directed the government to work in mission mode and recruit one million people in the next one and half years.

What did Union Minister Jitendra Singh say in Rajya Sabha?

Last year, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, said that as on March 1, 2020, there are 8.72 lakh vacancies in the departments of the Central Government.  In such a scenario, it is clear that at present the figure may have risen to close to 10 lakh, on which PM Narendra Modi has ordered recruitment.

Recruitment required for 8.72 lakh posts

Jitendra Singh said that there are a total of 40 lakh 4 thousand posts in all the departments of the central government, out of which about 31 lakh 32 thousand employees have been appointed.  Thus, recruitment is required for 8.72 lakh posts.

How many recruits were made from 2016-17 to 2020-21?

Giving recruitment figures for 2016-17 to 2020-21, Jitendra Singh said that a total of 2,14,601 employees have been recruited in SSC.  Apart from this, RRB has given appointments to 2,04,945 people.  While UPSC has also selected 25,267 candidates.
